Slumdog $1 a Day




Doesn't have quite the same ring does it? But that's the reality for millions of people in the world. If you've seen "Slumdog Millionaire," you've gotten a glimpse into what such a life is like. This narrated slide show will open your eyes even more. Not only does disease and starvation run rampant in such conditions, but children are extremely vulnerable to being duped into crime or, even worse, trafficked as slaves. The most recent U.S. State Department Trafficking in Persons Report estimates that, of the 800,000 men, women, and children trafficked across international borders each year, 50% of them are children.

Marjorie Stephenson Scholarship Applications Available

Applications for the Marjorie Stephenson Scholarship are available now. This annual undergraduate scholarship was established by former SRU librarian, Marjorie Stephenson. Black female students receive priority consideration; all students who meet the criteria, however, are invited to apply.
